The letter F may appear in initial, middle, or final position in the word:

  • Words ending in F: They are infrequent, being usually of foreign origin: chef (chef), surf (surfing), naíf (naive).

Pronunciation tip: The Spanish letter F is articulated and pronounced in the same way as in English, though it is somewhat softer, as less air is released to pronounce it. In Spanish, the phoneme /f/ only represents the letter F, unlike in English, in which it also represents the digraph “ph”:
